Once onboard, you will also have a dedicated account manager, so that you always have support when you need it. Say goodbye to paper receipts, you will receive weekly HRMC-approved invoices that can access via your customer portal.

How Advantage Cards Can Assist Start-Up Businesses

The Advantage Card – How does it work?

 

Starting a new fleet can be both exciting and a nervous experience. Helping in this new beginning, the Advantage Card is a handy tool to assist with building credit. With this card, a prepay facility is available, allowing you to pay for fuel or top up as you go 24/7.

You will have access to weekly fixed prices at a discounted rate through the advantage network and with there being no contracts, you will have total freedom in how you use your card.

Notifications are sent every Friday afternoon regarding your weekly fixed prices, and you will have your own dedicated Account Manager providing you with account advice and insight.

Your card pins and personal details to access your online portal will be sent to you separately.

Invoices and other personal information can be found on your personalised online portal allowing a simple paperless process. Here, you have access to a site locator telling you about stations local to you and those compatible with your chosen card type. These useful tools and features have been built to make using your cards a simple and more efficient process.

 

The Application Process

 

Applying for this card uses the same, simple process that is used if you were applying for any of our other cards.

You will only need your bank information when you set up fixed direct debit payments if you chose to use this payment method. Payments can also be made by the following methods:

  • Debit Card (any value – minimum: £50)
  • Credit Card (any value – minimum: £50)
  • BACS (any value – minimum: £50)
  • Direct Debit (fixed value taken on a Tuesday)

10 Ways To Save On Your Utility Bills

Now more than ever, during the height of the 2022 energy crisis, we could all benefit from tips and advice on how commercial and domestic properties can save on their utility bills. Here at The Fuel Store, we appreciate how this has impacted our customers, so we have put together a guide with helpful tips on how you can do precisely that.

 

1. REVIEW YOUR ENERGY BILLS FOR SMALL SAVINGS

Switching providers was always a method used to save money on energy bills, to find the best deals on the market. However, with the state of the current market, this method has become dated and inefficient. Most suppliers are now only offering variable tariffs to consumers; few utility companies are providing customers with fixed tariff options. These tariffs usually allow you to save in the long run by securing a tariff with unit prices based on the current market for either 12 to 24 months. With that being said, it is always advisable to monitor your bills by comparing what your supplier is charging against what other suppliers are offering. Many businesses may find it time-consuming and difficult searching for the best deals on the market, this is something we can do for you via our energy specialists.

 

2. CHOOSE ENERGY-EFFICIENT APPLIANCES

Who would have thought that replacing old appliances with energy-efficient appliances can help save £££ on your energy bills, based on reports by Which? Laying insulation with a thickness of 270mm can assist with retaining heat within a property that is typically lost through the roof. Even though solid wall insulation has a much higher upfront cost, it is much more cost-effective in the long term. In addition to this, replacing single-glazed windows with double-glazed windows is always a good investment for any property.

 

4. KEEP YOUR BOILER PRESSURE TOPPED UP

Efficiency is the theme of this blog; ensuring you have an energy-efficient boiler can help significantly reduce your energy bills. Replacing a dated G-rated gas boiler with a modern A-rated combi boiler, a thermostat, and thermostatic radiator valves could make an enormous difference to your payments. You can cut your property’s carbon emissions by 320kg annually by installing room thermostats, a programmer and thermostatic radiator valves when used correctly. As mentioned before, upgrading your boiler will help with cost savings; however, upgrading your thermostat, programmer & thermostatic valves is a more affordable option than can be considered. 6. DRAUGHT PROOFING

Draughts coming in through gaps such as your doors and windows can always be bothersome! Draught-proofing can save approximately £35 annually on an average-sized property, according to reports by the Energy Saving Trust. Although this may not seem like a lot, it can certainly contribute to maintaining comfortable room temperatures. Take a look at the following areas:

  • Windows – Use draught-proofing strips around the frame. Brush strips work better for sash windows
  • Doors – Use draught-proofing strips around the edges and brush or hinged-flap draught excluders at the bottom
  • Floorboards and skirting – Floorboards need to move, so use a flexible silicone-based filler to fill the gaps Loft hatches – Use draught-proofing foam strips to keep heat in.

 

7. USE LESS HOT WATER

Consumers and Businesses use energy to heat their water all year round. Things like turning off your tap when brushing your teeth, or in between washing dishes can make a significant difference to your utility bill. Also, if you have a water meter, you will definitely notice the difference! If you have a hot water tank (rather than a combi boiler), make sure you’re using your heating controls to turn your water heating on and off, so you only heat as much water as you need at certain times of the day.

A Guide To Business Energy

To What Extent Is Commercial Energy Different From Household Energy?

  • Business Energy Contracts Are Generally Longer

While variable and fixed-rate tariffs are available, all business energy agreements are taken out for an agreed duration, which can be anything up to five years. Your existing offer isn’t eligible for renewal until it reaches a “renewal window”, which is typically around one and six months before its planned expiration date.

  • There’s No Cooling-Off Period.

A cooling-off period, which allows you to terminate your contract without incurring any fees, is not required for commercial energy switchovers. These changes take around 17 days to complete. Make sure you’re entirely satisfied before accepting any contracts with commercial energy providers, as there is no such get-out option.

What Kinds Of Energy Contracts Are Available For Businesses?

To prevent spending too much on your energy, make sure you’re on a suitable contract with your gas or electricity supplier. Energy providers will generally offer better rates to commercial customers, but it is more difficult or expensive to stop your contract early because of this. The following are the primary commercial energy contracts on offer:

  • Fixed-Term

The fixed-term contract charges a fixed price per unit (kWh) for the contract’s life. The overall amount you pay each month will fluctuate depending on your consumption.

  • Variable-Rate 

Your unit rate may change throughout your contract due to market activity.

  • Deemed Rate

Your current tariff will terminate, and you will be placed on one of these rolling, out-of-contract tariffs. You will be charged the most costly rates if you do not transfer suppliers or arrange a new arrangement.

What Happens If Your Commercial Energy Contract Expires?

A costly out-of-contract rate will kick in once your conventional energy contract expires, so you should do a utility comparison for your company and find a better deal before that happens.

If you don’t know when your existing contract will end, don’t panic; your provider will contact you when the renewal window opens with an offer of a new deal.
